DELIQUIUM
SOUND ART TRIENNIAL
8th, 9th, 10th February 2018 – Electrowerkz, London
JOSE MACABRA
(UK) ➣ Ritual Noise / Ambient
You are in the presence of a sonic master. You cannot fail to know this, from the first seconds of experiencing Jose Macabra’s sound. This is music to invade your psyche, fill one’s soul, infuse itself into the very fibres of one’s being in a manner that can be achieved by only the finest and most enduring of artists. You sense so many influences, from the industrial and noise scenes and a legion of related genres such as ritual and the darker flavours of techno, blended with sound art, art brut and experimental music. What is more striking than his influences, is the cohesive aesthetic – Macabra’s voice, vision, sound, style and art – into which these influences have been infused. Ranging from a whisper to a scream, a whimper to an orgasm, a sigh to an apocalypse, Macabra’s music is a beacon whose brilliance stiletto-pierces its drab surrounds, drenching it in the radiance of genuine musical mastery.

These are artists who want to push you as a listener, viewer, toucher, taster. They feel the competing powers that define human and inhuman experience and press this open the audience. This is work that requires the presence of the artist and the engagement – sometimes submission – of the public. Your senses will thank you for the embrace that is DELIQUIUM.
